Project description

Building resilient societies is among the goals of EU as sustainable development has been for long at the heart of the European project. The EU is committed to development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

A sense of initiative and entrepreneurship is an essential transversal skill identified by the EU both to create jobs in the future and in building resilient societies. To move towards these goals, there needs to be an increase of the relevance and attainment levels of pupils studying entrepreneurship with focus on providing solutions for pressing societal challenges and aiming at greater social impact.

The DESIRE project, thus, seeks to provide learning for pupils based in the real world, to enable them to turn ideas into action. By focusing on the skills and competencies for the social economy, schools, teachers and pupils are expected to think more creatively and innovative about how they can address societal issues around them by developing entrepreneurial ideas into actions.

The project brings together organizations from 6 countries with different expertise and capacity in development and validation of training materials, digital training content, and entrepreneurial issues who will support teachers and schools to integrate entrepreneurship into several subject areas.

By bringing learning in to the real world, partners expect to add new context and meaning to curricula of students aged 12-15. Through pupil projects with local businesses, DESIRE aims to empower young people to take an active role in shaping their own future.

The overall objective of DESIRE is: ‘to improve the competencies and skills of young people to take an active role within the society and in building the social economy and strengthen cooperation between school and business.’ .
