The DigiPro project focuses on the challenges of the digital world, specifically cyberbullying and online hate speech. According to data from the INE (2006), 95% of the child population in our country uses ICT. A study by Save The Children in Spain in 2016 revealed that 6.9% of students aged 9 to 16 said they had experienced cyberbullying at some point. According to UNICEF surveys in 2017, this figure rises to 12%. As for teachers, they tend to be more restrictive than proactive and rarely intervene in their students’ online activity. They often complain about the lack of collaboration of families in establishing rules and values, while parents complain about the lack of educational projects that support parenting in this area. The project seeks to reconsider the ‘children/parents/teachers’ chain from the perspective of an educational community, where everyone, even the smallest, plays a positive role. Thus, the aim is to reduce hate speech and cyberbullying by developing digital and media skills, as well as promoting the common values of the EU, principles of unity and acceptance of diversity. This includes promoting the development of intercultural competences, critical thinking and media literacy. Activities at European level and exchanges between partners are planned to guarantee a real European dimension. Each activity will consider the national specificity on the topic and the experience of each partner. Through transnational exchanges, partners from participating countries will have the opportunity to learn about what has worked in other contexts. Collaboration between professionals from different countries will offer a multifaceted perspective, sharing approaches from different European contexts.
The project aims to achieve the following objectives: Find forms of collaboration and create spaces for dialogue between teachers, parents and children in order to facilitate the resolution of harmful or dangerous online situations, activating the positive resources of the communities and parties involved. Listen to the children’s point of view, training them as citizens of the European Union and creating a space to debate and reflect on the project topics. Experiment with participatory tools and methodologies that promote a new relationship with media and technologies. Produce digital tools and online methodologies that can accompany European parties in contributing to the reduction of cyberbullying and the phenomenon of hate speech. Develop teachers’ skills and support them to become facilitators of innovative digital educational pathways. Foster the inclusion of all students, representing the variety of needs and addressing the diversity of disadvantaged students. These objectives will be addressed through the implementation of various strategies, including active collaboration, training students as digitally competent citizens, experimenting with innovative methodologies, and creating digital tools to address specific online problems.
• A documentary with interviews with children: explaining cyberbullying, hate speech to adults from another point of view (about 30 minutes long, to be broadcast through Vimeo, YouTube and in schools) • Creation of some cartoons on the subject to increase awareness of the phenomenon thanks to the creativity and ideas of children, with the aim of promoting co-education between family and school • Creation of an interactive app between school and family • Online methodology for teachers who wish to establish a co-educational relationship with the family.
