Building resilient societies is a fundamental objective of the European Union (EU), since sustainable development has been a long-term priority for this entity. The EU is committed to development that meets current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. A sense of initiative and entrepreneurship are identified as essential transversal skills by the EU, both to create jobs in the future and to build economically and socially robust societies. To move towards these goals, it is crucial to improve the quality of training for young people, ensuring that they can study topics such as entrepreneurship. The focus must be on providing solutions to society’s urgent challenges and seeking greater social impact. Therefore, the DESIRE project aims to provide real-world learning, allowing young people to turn their ideas into concrete actions. By emphasizing skills and competencies for the social economy, schools, teachers and students are expected to think more creatively and innovatively about how to address surrounding social problems. This project brings together organizations from six countries, which will provide support to teachers and schools to integrate entrepreneurship in various areas and subjects. By bringing learning to the real world, project partners aim to add new context and meaning to the curricula of 12- to 15-year-olds. By connecting learners with local businesses, DESIRE aims to empower young people to take an active role in building their own future. The main objective of DESIRE is to improve the skills and abilities of young people so that they assume an active role in society and in the construction of the social economy, strengthening cooperation between schools and companies.
The project aims to: Improve the capacity of schools to connect learning with employment in the context of building a social economy. This will be achieved by connecting the classroom with first-hand business and business experiences, thereby providing greater relevance and capacity for learning in schools. Develop students’ skills and competencies to interrelate business models in accordance with the challenges of society. This will help build a social economy and motivate young people to pursue business careers. Develop the citizenship skills of young people by connecting business ideas with obtaining social benefits. This will improve the skills of teachers and the ability of schools to link classroom learning with the world of work, integrating entrepreneurship into curricula. Increase the exchange of educational resources between educational centers throughout Europe.
